The Parents’ Guide to University 2025 is a free resource for schools and colleges to share with parents and carers, supporting them to guide their child through key higher education decisions.

It includes expert advice on whether university is the right choice, what subject to study, and where to study – with contributions from over 75 university representatives across the UK, as well as external experts including a university finance guide by Martin Lewis. The guide is also supported by HELOA, the UK’s professional association of university access advisers.

It is structured around key stages of the university journey, including researching options, attending events, applying, securing student finance, and preparing for university life.

This year’s edition includes new content to help families navigate rising costs, with practical advice on budgeting, securing financial support, managing money at university, and exploring more affordable study options.

The guide is completely free to download and can be shared directly with parents – no registration required.
