The review forms part of the Careers Impact System, which is a process that drives continuous improvement in careers education. It sets clearly defined standards as to what good looks like in careers leadership and is directly linked to wider school and college improvement.

Making encounters meaningful: support for providers
This resource is for providers who deliver encounters in schools, special schools and colleges to support students with learning about all pathways.
In the context of the provider access legislation, a provider is an organisation that offers approved technical education qualifications or their representative, for example an FE college or training provider. The purpose of the resource is to enable providers to effectively engage with schools, special schools and colleges to deliver encounters that have an impact on students and are aligned with the institution’s wider careers education programme.

10X Challenge from Young Enterprise
The 10X Challenge, from Young Enterprise, is a free national enterprise programme providing young people, aged 11-19, with first-hand experience of starting their own business with a £10 pledge in four weeks, entering exciting competitions along the way! InterviewBot
InterviewBot is an automated interview practice resource for schools and colleges, using real life avatars as interviewers. This resource prepares students for their first real life interviews but does so in a safe environment where they can grow their confidence.
This resource offers a free trial and option of costed subscription.
Examples of good practice on access to schools for education and training providers
Through the Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022, the Department for Education (DfE) strengthened the provider access legislation to specify that schools must provide at least six encounters for all their pupils, during school years 8-13.
To support schools and providers, the DfE has compiled a collection of good practice examples and case studies of how the statutory duty applies in practice to enable schools and providers to understand the new legal requirements.

As part of The Gatsby Foundation’s work supporting parents to have careers conversations, ‘The Making of…’ films were produced, showing that as a parent, you don’t have to understand the detail of every careers in order to give your child the support they need.
Teacher Encounters Resources
A meaningful teacher encounter with employers/employees is one in which teachers/staff can develop their knowledge and understanding of sectors, careers and routes available to students at key transitions. These resources have been developed by the Careers & Enterprise Company to support the development of those opportunities.
NTLT - Vocational Pathways
These resources have been developed by North Tyneside Learning Trust as part of a transition project. Based on four growth areas a vocational box has been created for download.

Talentino!
Talentino programmes have been helping to improve career outcomes for young people with a range of learning difficulties in a mixture of settings – special schools, mainstream schools, AP, PRU, SEMH, etc.
The two programmes, “Careers at EVERY Level” and “MORE”, for different groups of young people with SEND/additional needs, are now on a subscription model with different tiers of provision – to find out more about the programmes, click here.

Across the country since the end of the Pandemic, we’ve seen a continued commitment to quality-assured careers support by many schools and colleges.
