We deliberately asked each participant to talk about their first role (highlighting that nearly everyone starts their career in an entry level position) and then progresses as their skills develop.
The idea behind these is that ‘we don’t know what we don’t know’ so how can learners aspire to careers and roles that they don’t even know exist? Through these videos we hope to expose learners of all levels to an array of jobs and careers raising aspirations and ambition that everyone can achieve paid employment.
Driven by the message ‘we can’t be what we can’t see’ we reached out to people with SEND who have fulfilling and prosperous careers – again with the aim of raising ambition for students, teachers and parents.
These were created in response to lockdown with the aim of providing learners with encounters with employers and employees. For learners with SEND (and parents of children with SEND) hopefully these better represent employees that they can relate to.
