Resource
This model provides a clear structure for understanding how careers leadership develops over time from emerging and activity-based approaches to fully embedded, strategic practice. It supports collaborative internal leadership reviews (via Compass+), helping teams to build a shared view of current provision, align careers with whole-setting priorities, and identify realistic, high-impact next steps. By linking leadership, delivery and evaluation, it enables careers to become a sustained and integral contributor to learner outcomes, including engagement, inclusion, transitions and readiness for life and work. The model is available for a range of educational settings including;
- Primary - Coming Soon!
- Schools and Specialist Settings
- Colleges and Sixth Forms
- Independent Training Providers (ITPs)
- Multi-Academy Trusts - Available only via the CEC Trust Community of Improvement.
N.B. The Careers Impact Maturity Model has been updated (Summer 2026) for use in tool from September 2026 and this resource includes a change log.
