The films below highlight opportunities in cosmetic science, fragrance, sustainability and technology and are a key touchpoint for young people interested in a career in beauty and STEM.

Featuring influential voices within beauty including Jamie Genevieve, Plastic Boy and The Welsh Twins, the short films explore enriching careers while also engaging young people.

Virtual Work Experience Programmes

The British Beauty Council works with leading social mobility charity Speakers for Schools to offer young people the opportunity to learn more about beauty careers via virtual work experience placements. Value of Beauty Report

In 2024, the British Beauty Council commissioned Oxford Economics to refresh its analysis of the economic contribution of the beauty industry and how it has evolved. The report covers 2023 performance and a forecast for 2024.

The report found that the personal care industry supported employment of 603,000 across all channels of economic impact in 2023, a 9% increase from 2022. Of this total, 418,000 were supported directly by the industry itself, with the hair and beauty services sector supporting direct employment of 224,000 alone. Based on available data and our economic projections, we forecast that this employment contribution will remain stable in 2024 with the personal care industry expected to support a total of 604,000 jobs.
