Employer engagement

The Black Country Careers Hub have developed a number of resources to support those working with young people with SEND in the different settings.  Many of these resources are featured in the My Skills My Future programme. 

Access and assign these short tutorial courses to promote intellectual curiosity through exposure to academic research – and start building the skills needed for university.

This resource pack has been developed by DFN Charitable Foundation and Whole School SEND.   The pack provides support, materials and practical tips to teachers and other school-based professionals to secure good transitions and destinations into the next stage of education and/or employment for Key Stage 4 Pupils with SEND.

This is the electronic version of the SEND Outreach Campaign.  It contains lots of useful resources for Career Leaders in a SEND setting.

See a great example of a learner journey within a SEND environment –developed by Shaftesbury High School, a special needs school in Harrow, London.

The Panjango Game is a fast-moving board game that explores the world of work in a fun way – developing key skills such as teamworking and problem solving.

This resource is designed to support Careers Leaders and other staff involved in the transition process from Key Stage 2 into Key Stage 3, exploring opportunities to embed careers activities and parental engagement across the full range of transition opportunities.

It takes you through the three phases:

1. Decision making (Y4,5,6) while children and parents /carers are still considering their options
2. Decision made (Y6) once the children have been allocated their secondary school
3. Started (Y7) once the children have started their secondary school.

Support students when it comes to finding the right university, and help them prepare for what’s ahead, with this targeted programme and free suite of resources.

Developed by Catcote Academy this resource is part of the My Skills My Future programme.  It contains a slide deck to showcase the opportunities available at Morrisons and is aimed at both SEND groups and AP/PRU.

Talentino programmes have been helping to improve career outcomes for young people with a range of learning difficulties in a mixture of settings – special schools, mainstream schools, AP, PRU, SEMH, etc.

They also provide great opportunities for learning more, through their regular newsletters, annual SEND Careers Conference, and by publishing free resources.

This programme is focused on the different stages of transition experienced by young people on the journey from education to the world of work.
