These anonymised case studies, drawn from educator’s examples during the three-year research study, illustrate how the different areas of risk interact and impact individual young people.

 

Support Tool: Risk Review Tool - A simple tool to enable individualised, student-centred support for young people at risk of NEET/Early school leaving. Ensure you have considered all the different areas of risk for the young person and how these interact to create particular barriers and challenges. This tool can be used during conversations with young people and colleagues; as part of case review processes or to compile information from different agencies to inform person-centred planning.

Drawing on data from South West England, this paper offers insights into young people’s priorities and experiences.

The Pathway to Change can support professionals to design interventions based upon an understanding of the key mechanisms which were effective, and led to change, for young people during a three year research study.

This short guide is used as a resource during the training presentation: Tackling Early School Leaving/NEET – Pathway to Change.

 

Support Tool: Action Planning Tool  - A simple tool to enable individualised, targeted student-centred support for young people at risk of NEET/Early school leaving. Identify appropriate interventions for an individual by first considering where they sit on the ‘Pathway to Change,’ and identify which mechanisms it would be appropriate to target. Use in conjunction with the Brief Guide to 13 Intervention Strategies’ to identify up to three intervention actions to target these needs.

 

Intervention Case Studies - Three illustrative case studies outlining how educators developed the  interventions strategies for their settings. Offers a summary, educator and young person’s views on why it was effective and key learning points.
