A Focus on the Future – Raising Awareness of Visual Impairment in Business

Resource

Leicestershire Cares were funded by the Thomas Pocklington Trust to adapt their education resources to ensure they are inclusive for use with young people with a visual impairment.

They ran a pilot employability programme with visually impaired school students in close collaboration with the Visual Support Team at Leicester City Council. They also asked members of a steering group of volunteers from business to identify the main areas of concern when thinking of employing people with a visual impairment.

The pack answers these three main areas: Health and Safety issues, key considerations for managers and signposting to helpful resources and sources of information.
