Careers guidance and access for education and training providers

Guidance

The range of measures to boost skills and level up opportunities include updated careers statutory guidance, Careers guidance and access for education and training providers. For easy access, we have integrated all of the guidance for schools and colleges into a single document.

The ‘at a glance’ guides include the requirements of the provider access legislation, which is new guidance that is in force from January 2023. The new legislation will become a key mechanism to further help learners understand and take-up, not just apprenticeships, but wider technical education options such as T-Levels and Higher Technical Qualifications.

To help understand the detail of the provider access legislation (PAL) please refer to the ‘PAL detail’ presentation, which can also be used to brief colleagues on the requirements.

In order to comply with the legislation your institution will need to have a provider access policy statement publicly available on your website. An example can be found with the DfE statutory guidance and there is a further example from a Trust here.
