Resources for Trusts
We have been reaching out to trusts to engage in a Community of Practice and held our first meeting at the end of April, so we are very much in the initial stages. The COP is expanding rapidly now with over 40 trusts engaged.
The terms of reference for the Trust CoP are as follows:
- To grow a meaningful network of Central Strategic Careers Leaders from across Academy and Education Trusts
- To develop and embed effective careers guidance across Trusts that impacts positive outcomes and permeates school improvement
- To drive purposeful relationships and engagement and impact between Trusts and the Enterprise Adviser Network, including Careers Hubs
- To surface and share exemplary practice of central strategic careers leadership across Trusts
- To develop system leaders across careers education
- To develop relevant and rigorous professional development for system leaders overseeing careers across Trusts

Engaging parents in careers guidance: Innovations in practice
Parents and carers play an important part in the careers and education choices of young people. The Gatsby Foundation and The Careers and Enterprise Company have worked with Careers Leaders to explore ideas and good practice for working with parents in these challenging times.

Hailsham Community College case study
Hailsham Community College in East Sussex is using a student-designed logo to promote its careers activity and the role of careers champions in departments. The light bulb image has been turned into a window sticker for local businesses to advertise their support for the school. The graphic appears on teachers’ lanyards, identifying staff who are “Careers Champions”. The design is also used to highlight careers content in lessons, in communications to parents and when branding events.

It contains lessons around employability skill development , employer projects and engagement videos all to support young people in their next steps.
